James and Amanda Damon
Pastors
Pastor James has been involved in ministry, in and out of church, for most of his life. His father pastored for several years, so James grew up involved and around ministry after getting saved at a very young age. He has experience in a variety of church roles including pastoral duties, leading worship and being a part of multiple worship teams, preaching and teaching duties, counseling, and (as is true in many small churches) everything else here, there, and in between! James and Amanda have been a part of the ROL congregation for nearly 20 years, serving as Senior Pastor for the majority of that time. James also has experience teaching at a Christian high school, and working as a hospice chaplain and bereavement coordinator. He has degrees in Historical Religious Studies and Communications Broadcasting, as well as a Masters in Pastoral Theology, and is close to a Doctorate in Pastoral Theology as well. He currently serves the town he lives in as Mayor, after multiple terms as an Alderman on the City Council. James started a sports broadcasting company for the region, which is now under different ownership, but he still broadcasts area high school sporting events in season. He enjoys reading in his (alleged) spare time, and following professional sports teams of interest.
Pastor Amanda shares in pastoral duties alongside her husband at River of Life Fellowship in Rockville, Mo.. She has been involved in the leadership for almost 20 years now. Throughout that time, Amanda received ordination as a pastor, as well as a Christian Counseling degree. She ministers from the pulpit from time to time but the majority of her ministry is behind the scenes. Examples include caring for the children in the community through their home, teaching Sunday school, counseling children, individuals, or couples through life struggles, and praying for deliverance and healing for God’s people.
James and Amanda are also parents of five and grandparents to one special grandson so far. Amanda home-schooled her children for most of their school years. She currently drives a school bus which works well to keep her family and church a priority. At River of Life Fellowship, we don’t want people to just come and fill the seats in the building, we want them to be changed and transformed by the love of God. We want them to feel His presence and leave differently than they came, having their eyes opened up to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, so they would take the Gospel and love of Jesus to their community, family, and friends around them.
